Password Protect Any Page
Membership Plugin is a totally automated, easy-to-use membership management system specifically designed to integrate with PayPal subscriptions.
We really pulled out the stops and loaded the system with an insane amount of advanced features, while at the same time keeping it super easy to use. In fact, using it is a simple as setting the member's area pages as .php and pasting in code at the top. And that's it! Any page can be protected and made member's only just that easy! No complicated software or databases to install and configure!
You can have as many different subscription levels and types as you wish. In other words, some pages may be available to all members while other pages are available only to VIP level members. There is no limit!
There are also great security features available. The Membership Plugin system can be set to require passwords to be difficult to crack. It will actually test the chosen password for strength and suggest good alternatives if found to be weak. You can also prevent "Brute Force" attacks where hackers attempt to guess passwords by limiting the number of failed login attempts for each username.
Want more advanced features? Check these out...
- Password Protect Any Webpage Instantly
Simply make the page have a .php extension, upload the PHP helper script to the directory and paste a snippet of code in the top and you are done! From that point forward, visitors will have to have an account and log in to see that page.
- Totally Automated
There is nothing you need to do to manage the membership site once it is set up. When a new member purchases a subscription, they are instantly added to the database and given access to the membership area.
Members can cancel their membership at any time. If it is cancelled, the membership will remain active until the current paid for time has expired. At that point, their membership will automatically be deactivated and they will no longer have access to the membership area. If a payment fails, they will be immediately deactivated until payment is made.
- Sequential Autoresponder
Send a series of custom emails to new members automatically!
Send out one or a series of customized and personalized email letters when a new member joins your membership program. There is no limit to the number of follow-up emails and they can be spaced at any intervals you like.
- Broadcast Email to All Members
Easy, personalized communication with members!
You can send an email newsletter or announcement to all active members in the system at any time. Additionally, these emails can each be personalized all automatically!
- No Software to Install
Runs from our super-fast servers as a hosted ASP model.
This means there is no software that you need to configure and install or any database that you need to deal with setting up, which is generally required of a membership management system that you install on your server.
This also means that you will automatically benefit from upgrades and fixes as they happen without doing a thing. You will always be using the latest, most up-to-date version.
- Integrates with PayPal IPN
Accept recurring payments using the popular PayPal online payment service. No merchant account needed.
- Users Select Username and Password
Members select their own familiar username and password rather than having them assigned arbitrarily. They are not forced to use any specific username or password. And, they don't have to use their email address as a username, which is a benefit because e-mail addresses frequently change for people and they won't know what address they joined with.
- Retrieve Login Info
Username and password will be e-mailed to member if they lose their password. This is all automated and handled for you.
Passwords are not retrieved, but, rather, reset and the new password is sent to the member via email. For security reasons, passwords are one-way encrypted using MD5 and cannot be retrieved, only reset. Once the member is logged in again, they can easily change the password to one they are comfortable with.
- Unlimited Subscription Types
Set up as many subscription memberships as you like. Different levels, different terms, etc.
This feature allows you to have areas that are only accessible to certain members with a specific subscription type. Thus you may have a standard area that is available to all, and you may have a 'Gold' level membership area available only to members that have paid a higher price to have a 'Gold' subscription.
- Require Agreement to Terms of Service
Members will not be able to join unless they agree to your terms as displayed on your website.
This is important! You should have a Terms of Service for your membership site. When you have created such, you upload it to your website and then supply the URL of the TOS to the Membership Plugin system. New members will be given the opportunity to read your TOS and will have to check a box that they agree to those TOS before they can become a member. This all happens automatically.
- Limit Concurrent Users
Limit how many users can log in at one time using the same username.
This feature is important to prevent sharing of usernames. If you set this to one, then only one person can be logged in with a specific username at one time. (It is advisable to set it to at least two as it will then allow a user to log back in right away if they close their browser without logging out.)
- Set Session Timeout
Optionally set how long a users can be inactive before they are automatically logged out.
You can set any length of time that a user has to be inactive before it will automatically log them out. This is important especially when computers are shared, which is the case at libraries or Internet cafes. When they try to access a member page and their session has timed out, they will be presented with a login screen to log back in. They will be taken directly to the page that they were trying to go to, not to the home page.
- Limit Failed Login Attempts
Limit the number of failed attempts at login for each username, prevents password guessing. Will lock out for 15 minutes.
This is important to prevent 'Brute Force' attacks. Hackers will commonly use a program that will automatically try to break in to member areas simply by trying over and over again to log in using different passwords. These programs will go through all the words in the dictionary along with number combinations. If you use this feature to limit the number of times that a user can try to log in and fail, it will lock that user account for 15 minutes when that number of failed login attempts has been reached.
- Force Secure Passwords
Optionally require users to select a password that is difficult to crack. Provides suggested good passwords.
It only takes one member to choose a weak password for hackers to get in to your protected members only area. Hackers use programs that try all the words in the dictionary, as well as common letter a number permutations. Forcing secure passwords will cause the system to test the strength of the passwords that members choose. For example, it will check to see if the password contains a word in the dictionary. It also requires that they use two different character sets, such as letters and numbers.
If the chosen password is found to be weak, the system will supply a good, strong, mnemonic password that they can use.
- Change Passwords at Will
Members can change their password whenever necessary on their own with no action from you. If you have turned on Force Secure Passwords, those rules will still apply.
- Extreme Tracking
Know exactly what pages are being viewed by which members and when. See the last login for each member. View session history to see the sequence of pages viewed.
- Access to Member Info
All member info can be displayed on any page.
When a member is logged in, each page that they visit has available all their info that can be accessed using PHP associative array (hash) variables. This includes the last page they visited, their entire session history, and the length of time that they have been logged in.
- Allow Free Subscriptions
You can allow individuals to subscribe for free to your membership site. You can mix some paid, some free, or have all be free.
